Corset Thoughts & Slut's Valentine's Day Purchase

Last week I bought a new corset to wear for my Master for Valentine's Day. I ordered it online, so it is most certainly not custom-made for my body, and I worried that it wouldn't fit correctly (especially as this little slut is rather lacking in the boobage department...) When it arrived the other day, I had a chance to try it on, and it does fit just fine. Yet even still, it was slightly more expensive than what I usually buy for my rather extensive lingerie selection, so I am even more nervous than usual that Master will like it.

I don't want to describe the outfit yet because my Master enjoys it when I surprise him with new slutwear. But I think it is very lovely! Maybe when I have it on for him, he will feel inclined to take some photos to share with you as an update to this post...

For all the teddies, stockings, bras, garters, slips, babydolls, and thongs I own, I actually only have one other corset. That one reminds me of something a Wild West prostitute would don in her saloon-brothel. It's dominant color is a silky, kelly green with black, lacy accents. It is also cupless, which I think adds a special slutty air to the look. However, it's boning, I believe, is just plastic, and it doesn't even lace in the back. So it's certainly not the nicest piece in the world.

Corsets are beautiful new territory for me that I somehow feel fits in quite nicely with my submissive personality: bound and restricted, taking pleasure in discomfort. Yes, that sounds good to me!

When Master was taking photographs of his little slut for our blog header and side photos recently, he mentioned that maybe I should wear a corset for the shots. I felt rather disappointed that I didn't really have anything along those lines after he made the suggestion, which gave me this idea for a Valentine's present for him. (The pink and black article I'm wearing in those photos is not, in fact, a true corset although it laces in the back like one.)

In the past I have felt very intimidated by corsets, I must confess. I have always placed them in a similar category as the bygone Chinese practice of binding feet, 15th-century Venetian chopines, and the restrictive garments worn by women in many of today's cultures that are designed to physically and socially limit her freedom, movement, and independence. I have said before that I respect anyone's choice to live their life according to their own desires, however, I do find it problematic when women are not societally allowed to make such a choice for themselves. Although corsets are not as dangerous as once made out to be, they have been known to cause health problems for the wearer. After lacing mine up the other day, I certainly feel that women must have been physically limited by this style of dress when it was the social norm. It makes me grateful for today's Western style of comfortable and practical dress.

However, there is also something uniquely sensual about this garment, and no other clothing item seems capable of mimicking the sexual essence of a corset. For me, there is something primarily submissive about this piece with the lacing, tightening, hooks and garters. When putting on my new Valentine's corset and pulling the ties taught, it really did bring me to that humble and docile frame of mind that I cherish so much when with my Master. But when seeing a Domme wear a corset, this item of clothing feels powerfully authoritative yet still intimidatingly feminine. There is a reason the corset is the go-to intimate costume for burlesque dancers: nothing else can hold a candle to the coset's sexuality.

Before I end this post, I remember being in the Camden Market in London several years ago and running into a gorgeous custom corset shop there. A quick Google search shows me that there are several, so I'm unfortunately not sure which I came across (if any London readers are familiar with the Camden Market corset shops, I'd love to pick your brain to get to the bottom of this mystery; I am pretty sure I can describe what the store looks like!) The lovely and sexy salesperson who attended to my Master and me during our visit answered many of my questions and impressed me greatly with the intricacy of what goes into making a perfect custom corset. I didn't end up purchasing one at the time as I was still slightly overwhelmed by the seriousness of this garment. But I think that now, a few years down the road and some exercises in submission under my belt, I just might be ready for the real thing...
